Aries - Cancer
Cancer's romantic aspect is based in domesticity and Aries is not necessarily thinking about the home when it is checking out availabilities. . These signs are both "Cardinal", which means they share an Action Oriented approach to what they do. However, Aries is Fire and Cancer is Water. So Cancer's actions, and they are definitely action-based people, are thoughtful and conscious and based in the slow approach rooted in hearth and home. Aries' Fire and Aries' Cardinality means Aries is action times TWO.
The Aries in pursuit of the Cancer sets up a "not so fast, guy" picture. It's not that a Cancer would be shy, but there is too much inner steel to be thought of as "easy". But the Cancer and the Aries can create a kindled fire. The Cancer not shy, necessarily, but a little more consciously hesitant, might find the more firey and outgoing Aries very appealing. Aries can start the conversation and Cancer can finish with a well-considered Cancerian clever rejoinder. This is a good potential for compatibility.
Positive Postulate:
Since Aries and Cancer share "cardinality", there is a basic match up here. This is especially important with cardinal signs because they "charge first and ask questions later". The two of them could create a dynamic family together. Positively speaking, these signs could be a public and dynamic pair. Regardless of how the genders work, it seems a pairing that could be serious. Cancer would consider slowly, Aries would act when they agreed, and then Cancer could support. Aries intelligence and brightness would be appreciated by Cancer.

Aries and Cancer would have a very high romance factor, as long as Cancer would not slip into a depressive mood state and Aries would not lose its sharp temper. Offending and being offended could be a romance dampener.

Aries and Cancers have tempers! Aries starts it and Cancer finishes it. Whoa. Watch out. They will definitely have many discussions - long discussions. You see Cancer, regardless of gender will not be intimidated and Aries moves forward with its issues on its lips. This is not a death sentence. It just means they will have to reconcile and work things out. The benefit here is that there will not be too many unspoken, unexpressed problems.
Peace Parlay:
Life in the end is repetitive and mundane, and so is Romance itself. This factor asks the question: "Can we be bored together over the long term?" Cancer and Aries might not be able to stand boredom, but as they get older, they might need it. Cancer "blues" should be watched for here. Aries may over estimate its rightness and become wearing.

Cancer and Aries are a good "keep up the interest" signs, but Aries should stop looking over the fence and flirting at picnics. Cancer is not likely to ruin this relationship, unless they become profoundly hurt or disappointed. Aries may forget how fortunate it is, until something shakes them up.
Seven Year Itchiness:
There are some signs that by their nature are more stable in their love interests and family concerns, as time goes on. Others are not. There are Cardinal signs on both sides here. That means action could be taken by either during the 7 year itch time. Cancer is more likely to think about it and imagine it, much more than Aries. My approach is optimistic and I believe that the degree of consciousness tends to make difficult matches workable. 16 years says much. You probably have a moody complicated Cancer, but remember it all comes from their interior, though it might not always make sense. Wonderful Article! While the sun signs carry a lot of weight, you also have to keep in mind a person's Rising sign and Moon sign. As I'm an Aries with a Gemini Rising and a Pisces Moon, while my husband is a Cancer with a Leo Rising and Leo Moon. That puts a whole different aspect into the relationship.

One of the first positive reviews on Aries-Cancer. I do beleive it can work. I attract mostly Aries. (I'm the Cancer female) and I am the one who breaks their hearts or ends all communication with them. lol. But now I've found a great Aries. WOW!!! This is the first time I hear about a positive feedback because they usually have negative things to say about Aries and Cancer. I have 5 years with my boyfriend and to be honest we are really different. I'm a Aries and he's a Cancer. He his really sensitive and I have a sharp toung. We fight today and tomorrow we'll be fine but, I feel that we are already use to each other and I feel is bad.. Sometimes I feel my realtionship is not going to work but hey what can I do.. I have NEVER read a positive pairing for Aries and Cancer. It is very true though. My husband (Cancer) and I (Aries) have been together for (mostly) 22 years. It has not been easy, we've thrown the towel in several times when we were younger. As we've aged (49 & 47) though, we understand our differences more, so we handle them better. Don't get me wrong we still have those major standoffs, but they don't damage like they used to.

Very interesting. 6 years ago I dated an Aries, Im a pretty typical Cancer guy... Initially the attraction was incredible and the romance was amazing. Her nature was serious, yet outgoing, while Ive been goofy/playful, while a little more introverted. We could communicate on such a deep level, and were viewed by our friends as the perfect couple. Over time we ended up bickering daily were and forced to split after a year and a half. Looking back though, I can see this working out with more effort. But we were both pretty young at the time and developing new paths in life. Had we been aimed at similar goals however, this could probably have worked out a lot better. I think the future vision needs to be the same for both in order for this to work, and when it does its pretty good. Ie.. never achieve your mutual goals (haha), or agree on new future ones together. Thats the key! : )

Great hub. I am the cancer and he is the aries, and after 3 years of dating he told me he was not ready for commitment - I have been waiting for a year now but he feels still the same. Our bond was (is?) very strong and I deeply love him, but somehow it seems we won't work this out. I do feel sad and depressed, and I know this puts him off even more.

This actually did feel encouraging to me and gives me hope. I'm in this state where it feels hard though. My boyfriend (Cancer) and I (Aries) have been together for 18 months. The first 3 months were absolute romantic bliss (he actually DROPPED his guard and was so free and open with me which he said he never done with another woman!)...then, things started falling apart. I made a LOT of mistakes and really hurt him sporatically from 3-10 months (it wasn't intentional...I just felt "lost" and the secure feeling he felt disappeared)... Granted, we love each other, but I want the romantic bliss again - I want to feel appreciated and want to rebuild the trust we had. I met my Aries man 6 years ago, and we were together for 3 years. It had its trying moments,mostly with me being insecure and codependent, and him wanting more freedom. We had a child together and I could tell he was longing for his old life of not being tied down and being free. I am Cancer and honestly there is something inexplicable that draws me to Aries. I love the fact that these stubborn people are so fiery and at the same time I hate them deeply :) One of the main problems is the fact that they are too independent while I like to dominate (my ascendant is Aries) and to be in a more profound relationship. I had a boyfriend that is Aries and, as strong as I am, I couldn't handle him - he dominated me in a way that I can't explain and actually it was pretty self-destructive for me. recently I tried oncee again with an Aries male and the same happened - instant connection, very passionate, but he wants his freedom (to call and to meet whenever he wants etc., which is something I am not ready to compromise with). At the same time he is really rude sometimes, which, as you know, is not something that a moody Cancer likes :) That is why I always challenge him with words (he says that I am too philosophical, while he isn't so prone to discuss emotions and deeds). It si not going to work out and it is not because there isn't an attraction - on the contrary - but because we speak different languages. I prefer domestic surroundings, more peaceful places, the company of my friends and interesting experiences, while he is far more conventional - he likes to keep love life away from his friends and is far less creative than me when it comes to actions.

Im a cancer n he's an aries. We've been together for more than a year. It started as what I would call "the best" n "most romantic" feeling everrr. But later my emotional n insecure side started to show. We fought alot! Actually only I start the arguements. Its always me who starts it, mainly cause I feel insecure. But thru all the fights, I start becoming less paranoid n started to understand him more n not misunderstand him. so far its been going great. Cancer.elle - You have said it all. You understand. So much goes on in the Cancer cranium. So much doesn't go on in the Aries. They do. They act. Don't attribute until things declare themselves. Cancer always has to get in front of the game. That is only done when you let things happen. Which means you can't really get in front. Just let things be and watch the world of manifestation.
